In about three months, people all across this great country will have an opportunity to cast their votes for those they would choose to represent them in various government offices. I think that we have become so accustomed to having that privilege that we seldom stop and think about just how important those votes are. Over the last several years I have done a bit better than I previously had at becoming acquainted with the candidates or at least their backgrounds and ideas before going to the voting booth. Having now run for office on two occasions, I realize just how difficult it is as a candidate to ensure that such information is available for all those who should care to see.
I urge each one of you to choose a candidate that you believe in whose name will be on the November 2010 ballot. Whether it is a state, local, or federal office that is sought, do what you can do to help that candidate reach out to as many people as possible so that as many people as possible will vote for, or against, your candidate with enough information to make an educated decision.
If I am fortunate enough to be a candidate that you believe in, this campaign will offer you ample opportunity to help. Door knocking will begin in September and likely end the last Saturday of October. With 4 counties to cover we will need literally hundreds of volunteers from all across the district to get this done. If this is how you choose to help, please set aside a Saturday or several Saturdays when you are able and send a volunteer email through the website to let us know when.
As campaign funds allow, direct mailing, radio and newspaper advertisements and of course the ever popular campaign signs will all be required to make people aware of the district attorney race. No campaign contribution is too small and only those that exceed $5,000 are too large. Do not ever think that a small contribution is unimportant. Five thousand contributions of just $20 each equal $100,000!
Finally, but certainly not least important, is your interaction with those around you in your daily lives. Many have no interest in any political race. If any one can make them interested it is you! They trust and respect your opinions. In the next 90 days, I would love to meet with your friends and acquaintances in living rooms, restaurants, parks, or any other suitable place. If you would like to host such a gathering, send a message through the website at www.BrianKforDA.com
Only 90 days to go! I look forward to seeing you soon.
