Senator Tom Coburn endorses Brian Kuester for District Attorney

“We don’t just need another DA for these four counties.  We need a new kind of DA.  One who has a moral foundation, who lives out his beliefs, and who will use the office for the public’s good.”

Broken Arrow, OK, October 7, 2010: Brian Kuester, candidate for District Attorney in District 27, which consists of Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner counties, has received the endorsement of Senator Tom Coburn. Statement follows:

Dear Citizens of District 27,

Right now, there is an important battle taking place in eastern Oklahoma.  Brian Kuester, of Wagoner County, is running for district attorney in District 27, which consists of Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner counties.

The citizens residing in District 27 need a DA they can trust to prosecute dangerous criminals.  They need to have confidence in the rule of law and the DA again.  Brian Kuester is the man for that job.

Brian graduated from TU Law School with high honors, is heavily involved with his church, and has served as both a police officer and an assistant DA where he prosecuted dangerous criminals.  He is well prepared for the job ahead and eager to return justice to the citizens of District 27.

We don’t just need another DA for these four counties.  We need a new kind of DA.  One who has a moral foundation, who lives out his beliefs, and who will use the office for the public’s good.

I offer Brian Kuester my full support and endorsement for DA.  I hope that you will join me.

 Dr. Tom Coburn

Prior to entering law school, Kuester was a police officer for 7 years in Fulton, Missouri and Springfield, Missouri. During those years he served as a sergeant, lieutenant, patrol officer and special response team officer. After serving the public in law enforcement, Kuester wanted to pursue another branch of criminal justice. He attended the University of Tulsa Law School and graduated in 2000 with honors. Before becoming a criminal prosecutor, Kuester practiced law for 3 years in civil litigation for a Tulsa firm. While a prosecutor, Kuester successfully prosecuted felony crimes ranging from manufacturing methamphetamine to murder. Kuester served on the Crimes against Children Team in the DA's office. He has also prosecuted crimes such as sexual abuse and neglect. He has won guilty verdicts in the majority of the jury trials he has tried. Kuester served as the liaison between the drug investigators from agencies in Tulsa County and the DA's drug prosecution team.

Brian currently resides in Wagoner County with his wife Laura who is a mental health therapist in private practice. They have three children, the youngest born in May of this year, and live in the same neighborhood where his wife grew up. Brian enjoys coaching his son’s baseball team, interacting with, and being a positive role model for children. Brian is an active member of The Church at Battle Creek where he is a Dynamic Marriage course facilitator, and is involved in the children’s ministry.
