About Brian

A farm in rural Missouri was the foundation for Brian’s hard-work ethic and drive for success.  He worked with his parents to manage the family farm while growing up.  Brian grew up in a small town just like many of the ones he is hoping to serve as District Attorney.    After graduating from high school, Brian began his pursuit of a career in law enforcement. He graduated from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. While at CMSU, he was an active member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, the local chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association.

Upon graduation from college, Brian took a job with the Fulton, Missouri Police Department where he quickly moved up the ranks to Lieutenant and worked closely with the deputy chief aBrian Police Officernd the chief of the police department. As lieutenant, Brian gained invaluable experience in supervising and managing officers, and resolving difficult situations as the watch commander.  After three years with the Fulton Police Department, Brian decided to pursue law enforcement in a bigger department and began working as an officer with the Police Department in Springfield, Missouri.  After 2 years with the department, he became a member of the Special Response Team.  As a special response team member, Brian received extensive training in resolving volatile situations outside the realm of patrol and special weapons training. Wanting to further the knowledge and understanding of the law that he had learned as a police officer, Brian decided to continue his education with a law degree from the University Of Tulsa School Of Law.

While pursuing his law degree, Brian was active in the Christian Legal Society, worked for the OklahBrian and Babyoma Tax Commission, and began a family. He received his Juris Doctorate and graduated sixth out of his class of 180. After working for 3 years in civil litigation, Brian returned to the field of criminal justice.  In 2003, he took a job at the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. While there he tried a variety of felony cases including murder, robbery, child abuse and manufacturing methamphetamine.  For a year and half he served as the Director of the Crimes Against Children unit working closely with police and DHS child abuse investigators on hundreds of cases as a member of the District Attorney’s Child Abuse Task Force.

In 2008 Brian chose to take an opportunity to broaden his trial experience into civil law and took a position as trial attorney for a national insurance company. Since doing so Brian has tried approximately 20 jury trials in 7 different Oklahoma counties.

Brian currently resides in Broken Arrow, Wagoner County with his wife Laura who is a mental health therapist in private practice. They have three children, the youngest having just been born in May, and live in the same neighborhood where his wife grew up. Brian enjoys coaching his son’s baseball team, interacting with, and being a positive role model for children. Brian’s hobbies include playing the guitar, reading and playing with his kids.  Brian is an active member of The Church at Battle Creek where he is a Dynamic Marriage course facilitator, and is involved in the children’s ministry.
