Letter to Voters

A friend of mine asked me why I would voluntarily submit myself, family and friends to the hardships of a campaign again.  A major reason is that I know that the residents of the four counties deserve a higher level of service than they have received to date.  Another reason is that there must be someone to challenge the status quo and rally the people to make those who oppose true justice very uncomfortable.  However, the greatest reason is the opportunity to bring leadership, integrity, and professionalism to the district attorney’s office where it is sorely needed.

Four years ago my volunteers and contributors very nearly reached enough voters to make the change in the DA’s office that has been needed for many years. Today that change is still needed. I have learned from local law enforcement officers that, as expected, nothing has changed under the current administration. Violent offenders receive sentences based upon who their lawyer is and who he or she is friends with.

Recently, I received a call from a grieving father whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver. Not only did he lose his daughter but the DA’s office disposed of the case as a reckless driving charge – a mere traffic violation. The father was never even notified by the DA’s office of this decision. This is not the way the District Attorney’s office is supposed to work.  Unfortunately, I know that I will hear many more stories like this as I begin this campaign, just as I did in 2006.

Let’s finish the work that we started last time. It won’t be easy. But things worth fighting for never are.
